Outline of Facilities
Earth Protection Center / Regeneration Plant
Earth Protection Center was established in July, 2000 with the primary aim of caring the earth and for protecting the environment. The waste is subjected to recycling treatment and converted to the new resources at the facility of the center.
Recycling of plastics
Most of the plastics are the petrochemical products, namely derived from the fossil resources ? the invaluable heritage from the earth of long time ago. When the oil is burned as the energy source, the carbon fixed in the past is emitted to atmosphere and causes the warming of the globe. But, the consumed oil can never be regenerated. Thermal recycling is also a process to burn the resources converted temporarily into the shape of plastics. In the case of chemical recycling, it is necessary to consume a lot of energy = waste the fossil fuel, in the regeneration process in the present situation. It is most ecological and economical to regenerate the plastic materials as the useful resources at the minimum energy consumption and to utilize it in cyclic way by reducing the plastic materials into the state just before the molding by making use of the property of thermoplasticity.
For producing the plastics product, it is not only the virgin material which is required in terms of quality. There a lot of plastics not influenced by minor content of additives or thermal degradation upon the requirements of the end-use. For such application, there is an increasing demand for the regenerated pellets. Pelletization serves to the recycling of highly universal nature.
Waste plastics are fed continuously to the palletizing process at Chusai, but the thermoplastic can be used as molding material for some application simply by crushing into small flake-like fragments. It is not, however, usable for regeneration material if the product is the mixture of plural components or carries the contamination. Sorting and washing are essential.
